Finding polymers for the automotive sector
Our customers in the UK and Europe mould and supply a vast range of complex plastic parts to companies such as JLR, Nissan, Renault, Bentley, BMW and Toyota.
From handling ‘just in time’ supply, to registering grades for IMDS, we have years of experience in supplying engineering polymers specified by the automotive industry. Many of our customers in this sector are operating to ISO/TS 16949:2009, now transitioning to IATF 16949:2016
We have worked on many projects over the years, collaborating with Tier 1 moulders or their sub-contract moulders through the various development stages. At Hardie Polymers we understand the stringent requirements and standards which need to be met within this sector. We provide reliable and also efficient service with commercial awareness.
Furthermore, we understand the particular pressures associated with the industry and the need for flexibility, speed of response to changes and new builds etc.
The requirements of our automotive customer base continues to evolve. In addition to being able to supply the most standard automotive grades, we’re continually involved in new projects to develop enhanced grades, new colours or new effects such as:
- Low emission grades
- Light-weighting grades
- Filled grades to reduce wear/friction
- High gloss grades
- Scratch Resistant grades
- New colour compounds
- Anti-squeak grades
As car manufacturers move towards greater use of electric engine technology, so their polymer requirements are changing as they seek to take more weight out of the car to improve battery range. We therefore expect to see more interest in weight reduction compounds going forward.
We have worked hard over the past 10 years to build solid relationships with not only our polymer supply partners but also our worldwide logistics partners. This enables us to access the product you need and support your ongoing requirements.
