  • PEI has a linear polymer structure with repeating imide groups in its backbone.

Identification

  • PEI is combustible and can burn with a yellow flame.
  • When extinguished, it may emit a characteristic odor.

Useful data

  • Density: The density of PEI is approximately 1.27-1.28 g/cm³.
  • Pre-Drying: Pre-drying is generally recommended for PEI to remove any moisture. Drying can be done at temperatures around 150-160 °C for several hours.
  • Melt Temperature: The recommended melt temperature for PEI is typically in the range of 360-400 °C.
  • Mold Temperature: The mold temperature for PEI is usually set between 170-210 °C, depending on the specific requirements and part geometry.
  • Shrinkage: PEI exhibits low shrinkage, typically less than 1%.

History
